WTI options update… – Commodity Research Group

Amazingly, a WTI oil option traded over 10,000 times… Volume has been extremely low since mid-December… Here is a snap shot from the CME’s “Most Active Strike” tool… On Friday, the April 60 call traded 13,180 times, adding 9,488 to open interest and dwarfing the volume of other strikes..

Average daily volume for WTI options in Feb was 107,677, -19% from Feb 2018… Year to date, volume is down 42% from 2018… Here is an updated implied vol chart which includes Friday’s settlements… On January 2nd, implied vol settled at 53.0%, and on Friday, 26.6%…
