WTI options update… – Commodity Research Group

WTI oil options volume has been relatively light as we moved to the end of 2018 and into 2019… Average daily volume for the month of December was 161,351 compared with 278,740 during November… Year to date in 2018 volume per day was 176,675 compared with 170,920 in 2017… Implied volatility settled at 35.3 (basis April) yesterday, compared to recent highs of 54.7 on December 27th and 58.3 on November 23rd… The long term average is 32.8… Here are option strikes ranked by open interest (note that not many are nearby, no strike is outstanding… where are the speculators?):
