The Economist carries a table in which the % change of selected equity markets around the world are listed… Often times, places where the news seems all bad are where equity markets are performing best… Brazil (+14.6), Columbia (+12%) and Turkey (+10.6) are in the lead so far… Yes, these markets have been beaten down, and they could quickly turn negative, but I find the table a good reminder of the value of contrarian thinking when trading markets… (Egypt, Pakistan and Greece have all had their turn on the leaderboard…)
