Oil option volume sharply lower in May… CME

Volume in WTI options traded on the CME (LO) trended lower in May… A total average daily of 87,764 traded, compared with 156,587 in April and 204,833 in March… Year to date volume is 155,723 vs. 125,038 last year… An OPEC meeting fell apart in March, oil prices continued to collapse in April and a move to a more balanced market in May all contributed to volume patterns in options trading…

One month calendar spread options that exercised into futures contracts (WA) averaged 15,884 while the cash settled (7A) averaged 6,309… This compared with year to date values of 13,283 and 5,189… Here is the link…
