The Carpe Diem blog posted the chart below showing the purchasing power of the dollar over the time the Federal Reserve was established… Shouldn’t the chart go in the other direction? Think of life saving drugs, vaccines, and medical care including joint replacements and organ transplants that weren’t available in 1913. The current dollar can buy access to so many tech advances that weren’t even conceived when the Fed was established that I think the dollar has more value now than ever before. Of course, I can now watch every single game of my beloved Jason Tatum led Boston Celtics in crystal clarity versus growing up watching the Bill Russell teams on a fuzzy black an white TV. (Ok, the chart does make sense in some cases).
